"Opened in Feb. 1997, this 300 bed facility handles the daily operations of transporting, feeding, medical care, adult education, and custody of Parish and State Inmates." The facility sits at 100 Deputy Barton Granier Dr. in LaPlace. It serves as the main jail for St. John the Baptist Parish.
The facility handles both parish inmates and some state inmates. Louisiana uses parish jails to house state prisoners because state prisons do not have enough space. This means the St. John the Baptist Parish jail roster may show both types of inmates. The facility also provides education programs for inmates as part of its operations.
"All criminal offense records are generally considered privileged and do not become public record until adjudicated." Keep this in mind when looking at the jail roster.
